Ok, so today, a severly out of control special ed student threw a fit in a high traffic hallway today at school. He caused some harm to other students, but mainly the staff trying to restrain him. He was throwing punches and kicking.. etc etc. A good amount of kids were late to class because they had to find different ways, since that main hallway was blocked off. And think about those poor freshman who can't find there way around the school anyways.
So there's this law in the united states saying "No Child Left Behind" basically, what this is saying, is that every kid has a right to an education, no matter what. Well, I don't agree with it. I do believe there are special eds kids who should be at school. The one's who don't disrupt others, are capable of learning things (even if they aren't high level), and don't require that much assistance. I think the kids who threaten the safety of others and are only at school to be babysat/controlled, should not be at a regular public school. It takes away from our education when school's are trying to control violent, out of control students. I know it's not there fault, but a public school is just not the right place for them. They should be homeschooled or sent to another school for their needs.
I'm not trying to start an argument, I just want to hear your opinion.

I agree with you. My mom's a teacher and she knows how hard it is to control a mentally handicapped student who throws fits every day and teach a class of 30 at the same time. And last year a M.H. student ran away from school and his mom was on the news bashing the school for not looking after him. My mom was like "If she thinks she can do a better job, she should homeschool him herself." It sounded mean but i had to agree with her.

Not all special education students are stupid. Some aren't even intellectually challenged.. I'm being serious - their not all stupid. Some are just socially challenged. Something i never tell anyone is that i have a very very mild case of aspergers syndrome [because then people treat you differently.] and i attend the special education unit but seriously, unlike most kids there i understand things. None of my friends even knew until my sister blabbed it all over the place and also one of my friends is a heart baby and she attends the special education unit and there is seriously nothing wrong with her. But i know what you mean by those kids who throw hissy fits all the time - and sometimes they can get extremely annoying.. I really hate it when i see the Special Education teachers doing the students work for them just because they can't understand the subject. I object to that big time; i know this student who only passes English because she gets major help from the Special Education Teachers and her English teacher doesn't even know it's not her work. Anyways I'm just saying that some students who attend there are normal and the only time where i threw a temper tantrum was when i was a little kid in the fourth grade and the teacher was seriously singling me out. Imagine being nine and having some teacher go send you to the office to try and suspend you every time someone makes up a lie about you for instance in my fourth year there was a girl who seriously had problems. She was teachers pet, we used to be real best friends and then she just started hating me and made up all these lies which the teacher believed. That teacher really hated me for some reason though.. and i was only nine - that's a young age.. Well anyways back on topic, lol. I just want to add a lot of those students are subject to bullying, especially those ones who don't understand like they think kids are there friends when their actually being paid out and they also don't understand sarcasm....ect. I prefer not to interact with most kids there though and i hang out with my own group of friends.
Well I'm in Australia, not USA btw.
